Many Muslim beliefs are similar to the beliefs in Christianity and Judaism, but other
beliefs do differ. The most central beliefs are contained in the Five Pillars of
Islam. Muslims also have a number of important Holy Days and Holy Sites which differ
from those found in Christianity and Judaism.
What are the "Five Pillars?"
These are the most very basic beliefs and actions necessary for a person to be a Muslim.
What do Muslims believe?
There are a number of beliefs which go beyond the Five Pillars, or which are logically
dependent upon the Five Pillars.
What are the Muslim holy days
Central to just about every religion are important holy days, commemorating important
events or doctrines.
What are the Muslim holy sites
There are several cities and sites which are sacred to Muslims - what are they, and why are they holy?
Where can Islam be found?
Here you can find information about many of the countries where Muslims are
a majority of the population. There are documents about political history, religious
history, treatment of religious minorities, etc.
Mosque & State
The relationship between mosque and state in Islamic tradition is very complex.
It isn't enough to say that they are completely intertwined, but they aren't really separate either.
What is Jihad?
The nature of jihad is hotly debated in the press and even among Muslim theologians.
Many apologists for liberal and moderate Muslims in the West argue that jihad has
nothing to do with violence, but history says something very different.
